Getting Started

Humura Therapy is Uganda's leading digital mental health platform, founded in 2018 by NASDAN. The name "Humura" means to find rest, to be comforted, to heal in Luganda and Runyankore — and that is exactly what we aim to provide. We connect individuals with licensed, professional therapists for both online and in-person sessions in Kampala, making accessible, confidential mental health care available to everyone.

Getting started is straightforward. Create a free account on our platform, browse therapist profiles and read about their specialisations, then choose the therapist that feels right for you. From their profile, select an available time slot that suits your schedule. Once booked, you'll receive a confirmation via both email and SMS with everything you need to join your session.

If you're dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, burnout, or any other mental health concern — Humura Therapy can help. Our therapists work with adults, young people, and corporate teams. You don't need a diagnosis or a referral to begin. If you feel you could benefit from a safe, non-judgmental space to talk, you're welcome here.

Sessions are available in English, Luganda, Runyankore, Acholi, and Swahili, depending on your chosen therapist. Language availability is listed on each therapist's profile so you can find someone you feel truly comfortable communicating with.

Sessions & Pricing

Online sessions cost UGX 50,000 per session. In-person sessions at our Kampala clinic are UGX 100,000 per session. We also offer corporate wellness packages and subsidised rates for clients who need support with affordability. For pricing on rehabilitation or extended care programs, please contact us.

Standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Your first session may be an initial assessment, which can take up to 75 minutes so your therapist can better understand your situation, goals, and history. After that, sessions return to the standard 50-minute format.

Yes, absolutely — at any time, and for any reason. Finding the right therapeutic fit is important for your healing journey. Your session history and stated preferences are saved on the platform so your new therapist can provide seamless continuity of care without you needing to start over.

Cancel at least 24 hours before your session for a full refund. Late cancellations — those made less than 24 hours before your appointment — are non-refundable. This policy is in place to respect our therapists' time and to ensure availability for other clients. If an emergency arises, please contact us as soon as possible.

Privacy & Safety

Yes. All sessions and personal information are protected by strict confidentiality. What you share with your therapist stays between you. There are limited, legally defined exceptions (such as a serious risk of harm), and your therapist will explain these during your first session.

No. Sessions are never recorded without your explicit written consent. Our video calls are end-to-end encrypted, meaning only you and your therapist can access what is said. We do not store or access session content.

Your data is stored on encrypted, secure servers. We never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties without your explicit consent. Only authorised members of your care team can access your records, and only to the extent necessary to provide your care.

For Therapists

Apply through our website by filling out the therapist application form. We review applications on a rolling basis and aim to respond within 5–7 business days. Approved therapists complete a short onboarding process before their profile is made live on the platform.

You must hold a recognised degree in psychology, counselling, psychiatry, or a related mental health field. You must also be registered and lincensed to practice. We verify credentials during the application process to maintain the highest standard of care for our clients.

Therapists receive 70% of each session fee. Payments are processed and disbursed weekly via MTN Mobile Money or direct bank transfer, whichever you prefer. Your earnings dashboard in the therapist portal tracks all sessions and payments in real time.

Yes. You have full control over your availability. Through your therapist portal calendar, you can set recurring availability windows, block out specific dates, adjust hours, and accept or decline session requests. Your schedule is always in your hands.

Technical

Humura works on any smartphone, tablet, or computer with a modern web browser. We recommend using Chrome, Firefox, or Safari for the best experience. No app download is required — simply open your browser and log in.

Sessions use our built-in, secure video platform. No additional software or downloads are needed. At your appointment time, simply click the session link sent to you by email or SMS — or find it in your dashboard — and your session will begin. Calls are end-to-end encrypted for your privacy.

A minimum of 1 Mbps upload and download is recommended for video sessions. If your connection is slower or unstable, you can switch to audio-only mode, which works well at lower speeds. If you're frequently experiencing connection issues, our team can help you troubleshoot.
